New York choreographer Doug Elkins may have lost his company, but he hasn?t lost his naughty edge. His latest work, created for Santa Barbara Dance Theater and unveiled at Summerdance Santa Barbara?s closing showcase, is titled ?Love Comes in Spurts.? If you don?t get that double entendre (fortunately the kiddies among Friday?s crowd didn?t) I am not going to explain. My favorite section? Rufus Wainwright?s ?Vibrate? (as in ?My phone?s on vibrate for you . . .?) set as a matador?s dance, full of bullfighting flourishes and executed with Spanish flair by Christina McCarthy.
